        The Chesterfield Youth Development Association is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization located in Midlothian, Virginia. Teams formed under CYDA play for Richmond Elite. Our organization was formed to provide an opportunity for area athletes to play an extended season of competitive basketball.

         AAU basketball is a very competitive level of play. Tryouts are competitive. Play time is not guaranteed in the AAU arena, but earned. AAU teams are travel teams. Our philosophy is that you don't have to travel far to find a competitive game of basketball, we try to stay within a 1 hour radius, but will go farther when necessary. We will participate in at least one 'travel' tournament over our season. The players love to spend the weekend together in a hotel and this is a true team building experience. The decision whether or not to take the team to nationals will be up to the coach and will be based on the quality of team. Here is an example of possible expenses that can be expected over the season.

Richmond Elite collects $185 from each player when they accept a position on the team. These funds cover gym rental fees, AAU club membership fees, and insurance fees. We will also collect the uniform fee; uniforms generally cost between $100 - $125.

 Travel expenses to and from tournaments. Players travel with their parents.

Cost of each tournament divided by the number of players on a team. The team manager will collect $100 at the time of start up to cover tournament fees, when those funds are depleted, they will collect an additional $100 or whatever amount is needed to cover the upcoming scheduled tournaments. If your team plays in a tournament every other weekend, then generally the cost of tournament entry would required a $100 collection from players every other month. This is just an estimate and the true amount depends on the number of tournaments the coach schedules.
